Getting started with Breedscape

Create your Breedscape account, sign in with a password or a magic link, find your way around the five tabs, and set your units and appearance.

Breedscape keeps your kennel records in one private place on your phone: your dogs, litters, health and breeding records, and the people you deal with. Everything is saved on the phone first and backed up to your account, so it works in the whelping shed with no signal.

Creating your account

When you first open the app you'll see a short welcome, then two quick questions about your breeding experience and where you are right now. Your answers are saved to your profile.

Then create your account with your email address and a password of at least 8 characters.

Signing in

There are two ways to sign in:

  • Email and password.
  • Magic link. Enter your email and we'll send you a link. Open it on your phone, or type the 6-digit code from the email into the app. No password needed.

If you forget your password, tap Forgot password. We'll email you a code, and you can choose a new password.

Finding your way around

The app has five tabs along the bottom:

  • Dashboard. A count of your dogs, pups, litters and contacts, and the dogs you added most recently.
  • Dogs. Every dog in your kennel, grouped by breed.
  • Litters. Each litter and its pups.
  • Contacts. Buyers, vets, stud owners and anyone else you deal with.
  • Settings. Reminders, appearance, units and your account.

If your kennel is empty, the dashboard offers to help you add your first dog. That's the best place to start. See Adding and managing your dogs.

Setting it up your way

In Settings you can choose:

  • Appearance: System, Light or Dark.
  • Units: pounds or kilograms for weights, and °F or °C for temperatures.

Units are saved on this phone, so set them again if you sign in on a new one.
